In BC recently, two injustices were reversed due to people standing up and fighting for what they knew was right. In Maple Ridge there is a great program where people with disabilities work in a recycling depot which is supported by Community Living BC. It was slated to be discontinued. BUT... people who cared fought for the program to continue and they succeeded.
Now here is another chance to speak up for the rights of the ordinary person:
The federal government is "looking at ways to make the Old Age Pension and CPP sustainable". One way to do this is to raise the retirement age.Well, bull shit! (Yes, this is not a way to express an educated viewpoint). Perhaps the government could raise corporate taxes one or two percent instead of having the ordinary average Canadian bear the burden once again. Hmm ...Mr. Harper et al .... that's something to think about.
I'm running out of time to continue this discussion but one thing we can all do to address this concern is to pass this on to all our friends and write to our MPs. Tell them that it's time to look at other ways to create funding.... no more taking from the people who can least afford it! Thanks for reading my rant.
